With a moon station on the drawingboard, my moon real estate is worth something. Anybody interested?

As a house guest over Thanksgiving, I had an air mattress to build a bed on. It was cool and everything was fine, except for one thing..
Why is it that once you blow air into an air mattress, that there is no way to pinch off the tube to keep the air from escaping while you fumble to place the seal on the opening?
I was lucky to have any air at all to sleep on, and by morning it was gone..

California State University at Merced is a brand new campus. They finally have a mascot; the Fairy Shrimp.
Hey that's the Fighting Fairy Shrimp.
San Francisco is up at arms because Fairy Shrimp is no longer on the endangered species list, but straight shrimp still are.

The explorers were on the trail. Their horses tired and sweaty. The leader spots a body of water ahead some distance. He says to the scout, "Go on up there and taste that water, and tell me how it tastes."
"Si Senior,"
The scout canters on up there, dismounts, takes a drink, then mounts his horse and returns.
Well, the Conquisdidor asks.
"Like hell senior,"
And that is how it got it's name.

Horses marooned on a low=land knoll for three days by rising floodwaters waded to safety on Friday, led by wranglers following an underwater path marked out by half-submerged states.
The horses were neck deep at Times and had to swim in some spots, especially the foals. But they began to canter as they reached solid ground on the edge of the brackish water. They burst into a gallop once they reached solid ground. Relived at being able to stretch their legs.
This ought to bring a new meaning to a "Flying Dutchman."

I was late, I was in a hurry, I wanted to get to Apple Valley quick.
Someone told me that to get into the Mojave quick, was to go through LA. Wrong.
When Roy Rogers sold off his horses, the get of Trigger Jr, I had to investigate.
I headed through Glendale, Pasadena and somehow got on historic 66. It was a four land, stop and go traffic, through and endless stream of McDonald's and the mini malls of our urban scene. It would of been cool, but I was late.
When I finally got to Apple Valley, I took several wrong turns, before some locals pointed me on the right direction. Route 66.
The Happy Trails was an old place, not fancy, but well kept up.
The sale was over, Roy and Dale were gone, so I contented myself with looking around. The horses weren't much to look at. They showed a lot of Standardbread and had gangley conformation.
Leaving, I went east on 66, thinking there's be a left turn taking me in a more direct direction to Bakersfield via Tehapachi. But I ended up in Barstow before I could turn around.
Roy's Happy Trails Ranch was about 5 miles outside of town. Across the railroad tracks and between the river.

As summer fades into fall, the dry weather continues. Which is good, since dozens of crops are being harvested and that requires dry weather.
I support farmers since I like to eat.
The fire that is raging near LA has poured smoke into the valley. Also there is still a lot of dust in the air. So rain would also be nice.
We usually get a few drops of moisture in mid September, I call it the buck storm. It is the day, I wish I was out deer hunting.
